SU6403 : RMAS St Margarets

near to North End, Portsmouth, Great Britain

RMAS St Margarets
RMAS St Margarets
This was the last twin screw steam powered cable laying vessel to be active in British waters and was sold abroad for either scrapping or re-engining. Final fate unknown. Seen off Pounds Scrapyard, Tipner.
Access was up a rope ladder from the wheel house roof of a small workboat. We came off on the falling tide just before we would have been stranded.
