NJ0118 : Ant road

taken 13 years ago, near to Lettoch, Highland, Great Britain

Ant road
Ant road
A small but obvious gouge in the centre of this forest track has been created by a steady stream of thousands of ants heading to and from their nearby ant hill. Tens or even hundreds of thousands of ants live in each ant hill. There are hundreds of ant hills in these woods resulting in a massive ant population.
