SY9277 : View from Rope Lake Head
near to Kimmeridge, Dorset County, Great Britain

View from Rope Lake Head
The beach below is to the east of Rope Lake Head, and is only accessible on foot along the shore from Kimmeridge - there is a real danger of being cut off by the tide, which reaches several headlands along the intervening coast at high water. The cliffs are of Kimmeridge Clay; steep and crumbling. The bay is called Rope Lake Hole - "Rope Lake" is a synonym for waterfall, where 'lake' is used in the local sense, meaning a stream.
