near to Speeton, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Jackdaw Crag and Nanny Goat's House
Jackdaw Crag and Nanny Goat's House
The names refer to specific crags in the cliff. At this point the chalk strata of the Yorkshire Wolds emerges to form the promontory of Flamborough Head. The bay curves away towards the north, and the cliffs become clay, which erodes much faster than the chalk. See TA1575 : Speeton Sands for a view of the change.
