Sunken Gravestone
Sunken Gravestone
This gravestone was hidden in a wee corner of the Old Calton Cemetery but it made me really sad. The fact it was devoted fully to a baby (as opposed to the more normal name and 'died in infancy'). Although it has sunk I believe the verse should read "Beneath a sleeping infant lies, to earth whose body lent. More glorious shall hereafter rise, but not more innocent. When the archangel's trump shall blow, and souls to bodies join, millions will wish their lives below had been as short as thine".
