Bignor Bridge
Bignor Bridge
Former farm bridge over the Wey and Arun Junction Canal that was restored in 1995. The canal, with the exception of a few pools, is virtually empty between Malham and Drungewick. Opened in 1821 as part of a route linking London to the sea, railway competition ended the life of the canal by the late 1860s and was declared abandoned in 1871. There are currently efforts to restore the canal to its whole length between Pallingham and Shalford but so far only parts are navigable and much is still empty awaiting restoration.
