Coire Faoin
Coire Faoin
The coire, often known as the Sanctuary, lies to the southwest of the Old Man of Storr. At a height of 400m, it is some 300m below the top of the Storr itself. Its amazing, contorted terrain is full of rock towers and pinnacles created by the landslip on the east side of the Storr, where the underlying Jurassic sediments have given way under the weight of the massive basalt layers that make up the Trotternish Ridge.
