NN5933 : Forest near Firbush

taken 13 years ago, near to Auchmore, Stirling, Great Britain

Forest near Firbush.
Forest near Firbush.
In 1976 the British Universities orienteering championship was held here. Then this was a mostly open hillside with scattered trees. Now ironically, that it is forested, its no use for orienteering, you can rarely run far through sitka spruce. Already this area is close to harvesting, and in Autumn 2005 felling started in the north east of the block.

Ride for powerlines looking east.
