Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Queen Elizabeth Hospital
This major teaching hospital was opened in the late 1930s and has long been regarded as a centre of excellence. Its replacement is well advanced. The tall clock tower is a local landmark and contains water tanks and access to a new-(ish) vertical access shaft containing a large part of the hospital's plumbing.
In the mid 1980s the contractors left the access to this tower open and I've sat on top of it on a couple of occasions.
