SE2121 : Balderstone Hall, Mirfield

taken 18 years ago, near to Ravensthorpe, Kirklees, England

Balderstone Hall, Mirfield
Balderstone Hall, Mirfield
A large detached house said to have been built by Dr John Balderstone in 1690 but must have been altered later. It is a little unusual in having a five-window gabled front (the gable with its arched window might be 19C). The first floor windows have mullions and transoms. The central doorway has a moulded architrave and ornamental lintel. For a closer view see LinkExternal link ; more details are given in this site. The lane (public footpath) is logically called Balderstone Hall Lane.
