31 and 32 Pearson Park, Hull
On the perimeter road at the southern edge of the park. The poet Philip Larkin lived in the top flat of No. 32 (on the right) from 1956, shortly after he moved to Hull from Belfast (see J3372 : Larkin plaque, Belfast) to work at TA0731 : Brynmor Jones Library, University of Hull. In 2008, The Times judged Larkin the greatest British writer since 1945. When Larkin lived here it was a university-owned house, and he only bought a home of his own in 1974 when he moved to TA0731 : 105 Newland Park, Hull. He died in 1985 and is buried at TA0333 : Plot 19-81 Cottingham Cemetery.
