105 Newland Park, Hull
The poet Philip Larkin lived here from 1974 until his death in 1985 (the blue circular plaque on the upper storey commemorates this fact). At the time he called it "an ugly little house" although it has been extended and altered since. Larkin moved here from TA0830 : 31 and 32 Pearson Park, Hull and worked at the nearby TA0731 : Brynmor Jones Library, University of Hull. He wrote very little after the move. In 2008, The Times judged Larkin the greatest British writer since 1945.
