TF9336 : Common Place, Little Walsingham
near to Little Walsingham, Norfolk, Great Britain

Common Place, Little Walsingham
The heart of this attractive but highly unusual Norfolk village, a place of Christian pilgrimage since 1061. In the 18th and 19th century it was a market town, and the fine buildings in the centre attest to its prosperity. It might well have faded into obscurity in the 20th century had Alfred Hope Patten not revived the tradition of pilgrimage; today it is a significant tourist centre attracting both the devout and the curious.
