Forres, Moray, Great Britain

Thomson Monument
Thomson Monument
This elevated area is the site of Forres Castle, of which no trace remains. The granite obelisk being almost smothered by the flowering trees commemorates James Thomson, who saved many lives while serving as an army surgeon in Crimea.
