A circular walk from Redmile, (24)
At the Bottesford Road Bridge you have to have to leave the canal and cross the road as the tow path was blocked off when the bridge was replaced in the 1960s. On the west of the bridge the canal entres a shallow narrow cutting and is quite over shadowed by trees. The small shed in the distance is probably a length man's hut, the person who was employed to keep the canal "tidy" and make sure there was no obstruction under the bridge.
To follow this walk of about 6 miles along the canal and public footpaths, park in the village of Redmile somewhere near the Peacock Inn and walk north west out of the village to the bridge where you can gain access to the tow path. Photographs taken along the length of the walk are collected here: Link
