near to Redmile, Leicestershire, Great Britain

A circular walk from Redmile, (30)
Meandering gently towards Grantham the Grantham Canal is a pleasant place to walk an enjoy the countryside. Opened in 1798, expressly to carry coal from the Trent to Grantham, it was closed in 1936. It is the concern of the Grantham Canal Restoration Society who, as part of a wider partnership, are endeavouring to bring it back into a navigable state. See Link
To follow this walk of about 6 miles along the canal and public footpaths, park in the village of Redmile somewhere near the Peacock Inn and walk north west out of the village to the bridge where you can gain access to the tow path. Photographs taken along the length of the walk are collected here: Link
