River Severn in flood at Atcham
River Severn in flood at Atcham
The river is habitually wider at this point as it flows around an island, but flooding has turned it into a lake a quarter of a mile wide. The Severn is particularly prone to flooding due to its large catchment area in the Welsh hills.
