NT1753 : Whitfield

taken 12 years ago, near to Carlops, Scottish Borders, Great Britain

Whitfield.
Whitfield.
This is in the limestone bit of the Midlothian plateau, (though it is actually in Peeblesshire) There was a lot of quarrying here, and the map shows a quarry site here. Now it is a mix of rough and improved grazing on the edge of Auchencorth Moss. The give away that lime is present are the kilns dottes about.
