Two footpath signs, old and new, pointing the way back to Redmile across the fields. Leicestershire are very good when it comes to waymarking rights old way, using these yellow topped posts at any junction, major change of direction and field boundaries. This post has markers to indicate the direction of the footpath, yellow arrow, as well as that of the public byway, red arrow.

To follow this walk of about 6 miles along the canal and public footpaths, park in the village of Redmile somewhere near the Peacock Inn and walk north west out of the village to the bridge where you can gain access to the tow path.
