When I were a lad ........
When I were a lad ........
When I was a school boy, this was an active railway station, Holywell Town, the terminus of a short and steep branch line off the LNWR main lane at Holywell Junction. The slope in the foreground is the result of in filling of the cutting in which the track was laid. The station platform was under the left hand arch, with a small goods yard lying behind the right hand arch. The road overbridge provided access to the yard and also pedestrian access to the Strand housing estate. The trackbed now forms a footpath down to the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park.
