Pevsner says "Then among the minor Victorian terraced housing comes the surprise of Nos. 56-58 with its elaborate Artisan Mannerist brick facade of c. 1660-70. Double gabled elevation with tumbling and to the r. a tall chimneystack. On the l. half of the building moulded-brick stringcourses form triangular pediments over the windows to both floors. That to the first floor is flanked by Doric pilasters supported on corbels. Altered facade to the r. with C19 and C20 windows.".
