St Andrew's church - Jacobean pulpit
St Andrew's church > LinkExternal link houses one of the major art objects of England - a late 14th century rood screen which is very little restored > LinkExternal link - LinkExternal link - LinkExternal link. The paintings of saints, arranged in pairs on altogether 16 panels, are of very high quality. Other medieval survivals are the large octagonal font with lions at its base > LinkExternal link and stained glass depicting angels > LinkExternal link. The pulpit (seen here) is Jacobean. Some of the bench ends came from Kings College Chapel in Cambridge > LinkExternal link. The church is kept locked but a key is available. For more information see: LinkExternal link
