The Rufus Stone, Canterton Glen, New Forest
This metal casing surrounds the Rufus Stone monument in Canterton Glen. The whtie writing tells the story (or legend?) of how King William Rufus was killed near this spot, although the latest thinking is that it happened near Througham (not near Fritham) in the south of the New Forest near the Solent shore.
