This Locomotive Class 8P (formerly 7P) was built at Crewe in 1938 to a Stanier Design. This Locomotive was not constructed with streamlined casing and was originally fitted with a single chimney, it now has a double chimney.
Named Duchess of Sutherland the locomotive was given the LMS number 6233 but when taken over by BR it was re-numbered 46233. Before entering preservation this locomotive was mounted on a track panel at a Butlin's Holiday Camp in Scotland.
