Yes, it's quite true, palm trees do grow in Plockton! Harbour Street is the main street of the village, lined with brightly coloured traditional cottages.
Plockton was a model village planned by the Earl of Seaforth in 1794, and brought to fruition by Sir Hugh Innes who bought the site c.1800. Its sheltered position on the east side of a headland in Loch Carron allow palm trees to flourish.
