Battersea: Albert Bridge kiosk
This is the western of the pair of kiosks at the southern end of the bridge. These kiosks have the famous notices instructing troops to break step in case the resonance of their footsteps marching in time created potentially damaging vibrations. As for the purpose of the kiosks, for the first few years (1872-1879) of the bridge's existence it was a toll bridge, and possibly the kiosks were built to service the collection of the tolls.
