Mammoth at Watermead Park
This is the second mammoth sculpture to be created at Watermead Country Park.
The first mammoth was made in about 2000 and was never completed; it was carved from solid plastic blocks and then coated in a resin material. The tusk holes were left vacant pending some finishing touches.
Somebody from the local philosophical society inserted large fireworks into the tusk sockets and there was soon a spectacular sacrificial bonfire (and no mammoth!).
