White Mulberry tree at Fulham Palace
White Mulberry tree at Fulham Palace
The white mulberry is the one used to feed silkworms. See also detail of this tree TQ2376 : Mulberry fruit and leaves at Fulham Palace. There is also a black mulberry in the grounds - better fruit, not good for silkworms. Fulham Palace has a fine collection of trees. In the 17th Century Bishop Compton imported trees such as magnolia from Virginia. There are tree tours available in the park. This photo was taken during a guided tour as part of London Open Squares week-end LinkExternal link .
