This bridleway is part of a route from Brund in Staffordshire (behind the viewpoint) to Pilsbury in Derbyshire (ahead).

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route.
Certainly the lower section was, carrying a route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen.

As can be seen in the picture, this section of the bridleway suffers from significant erosion.
A few of the buildings in Pilsbury can just be made out through the trees.
