The photograph was taken from a bridleway that is part of a route from Brund in Staffordshire (behind the viewpoint, lower right) to Pilsbury in Derbyshire (ahead, left).
It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route.

Certainly the bridleway from this point to Pilsbury was a packhorse route as the footpath joining from the centre-right (note the SK1163 : Signpost) carried a packhorse route from Sheen to Pilsbury bridge (now a ford).
