This bridleway is part of a route in the SK1163 : Upper Dove Valley from Brund in Staffordshire (behind the viewpoint) to Pilsbury in Derbyshire (just ahead).

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route.
Certainly this, the lower section was, carrying a packhorse route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen.

Just behind the viewpoint a bridge carries foot traffic over the River Dove whilst to the right other traffic uses the SK1163 : Ford.
