Taking this photo thirty five years ago you would have seen a continuous retaining wall, broken only by a gated foot-entrance where you could turn ether left or right to ascend either of two two-flight steps which doubled back on themselves to meet together at the top.

Behind standing about ten feet above the level of the road and about fifteen feet back was the Hall at the end of the single storey original school building, which for the last years of the college's life formed the Library.
