Bridge of Orchy / Drochaid Urchaidh
A view from downstream of the bridge built around 1751 as part of the extensive military road network constructed after the Jacobite rising of 1745. The engineer was Major Edward (also known as William) Caulfeild or Caulfield, a colleague of the famous General George Wade. Today the bridge is used only by local traffic and walkers on the West Highland Way, as the modern A82 keeps to the east bank of the river on its northward route.
