Cutaway Cottage
This house was formerly the ferry inn on the old Deeside Road which passed between the inn and the River Dee. Close behind the cottage ran the Deeside Rlwy line, built in the 1860s, which was to carry all the crowned heads of Europe to visit Queen Victoria at Balmoral. So close was the rlwy line that the corner had to be cut off the cottage to allow room for the trains to pass; hence the name. The ferry was replaced by a bridge.
