Exquisite Geological Display in Houndshope Cove
This wonderful boulder lies next to the path from Houndshope Cove to the summit of Dove Crag. It is formed from sediments of volcanic ash or tuffs probably laid down as part of a submarine flow and displays very tiny faults which have disturbed the alignment of the beds. The boulder is one of the locations in ‘Lakeland Rocky Rambles’ by Bryan Lynas.
