A solid house, of the mid-18C, and beside it a house with much lower ceilings, yet with an elaborate doorcase. This is was probably built in the 17C (there are the remains of two stone-mullioned windows at the rear) but given a new front in the early 18C. The red sandstone is said to be from the Roman Wall
