Sun pierces the foliage at Chapel Hill Pleasure Grounds, Torquay
The trees have grown tall in this neglected area of woodland close to the main road into Torquay. The chapel referred to in the name of the woodland is a 12th century one dedicated to St Michael. The light penetrating the somewhat gloomy interior on this June morning has a luminosity reminiscent of that surrounding an Archangel, if one can imagine it. No doubt William Blake would have seen the angel floating in the air as solid as the tree trunk.
