County Boundary

This footpath forms the boundary between Staffordshire (left) and Dudley MBC (right). I am standing in Worcestershire, facing North. The group of walkers approaching were from Halesowen and were interested in the concept of Geograph. I hope they log on and find themselves!!
Where this lane leaves the A 451 at SO886819 it is called County Lane. Reference to the historic map shows that this was the boundary between Worcestershire and Staffordshire. West Midlands was created in the 1974 boundary changes and in this area it took a substantial chunk of Worcestershire, including Stourbridge. In 1986 the West Midlands Council was disbanded and replaced by six unitary authorities including Dudley.
Even earlier it was the course of a Roman Road.
