SH9277 : Gwrych Castle
near to Rhyd-y-Foel, Conwy, Great Britain

Gwrych Castle
An elaborate folly dating from 1819 and extended in stages until 1914, when it began an apparently irreversible decline. Most recently a tourist venue with jousting and entertainments, eventually it became derelict and was invaded by travellers who caused huge damage. Now the plan is for conversion to a 5 star hotel, but after initial safety clearance work everything has stopped again.
