The sign is not a joke. An adult ostrich can deliver a vicious kick which can cause serious injury. There are in fact three signs which together read 'Dangerous wild animals', and they are not to be taken lightly, even though the bird is making (misdirected) friendly overtures. I was very glad there was a fence between him and me.
