St Agnes' church - west doorway

is a large building which is probably best viewed from a distance > Link
. The church was built by the de la Poles during the 15th century. Inside, the nave has a largely unrestored hammerbeam roof retaining traces of its original colour; each post supports a large carved standing angel with outspread wings and more angels line the cornice and the apex > Link
. The tall C16 rood screen > Link

- believed to have been painted by at least three different Flemish artists - has 16 panels depicting saints, with four additional panels depicting St Jerome, St Ambrose, St Augustine and St Gregory, forming the screen doors > Link
. Above the chancel arch the red background to the former rood can still be seen, the location of the cross outlined in white. In the south transept there is a C15 wall painting of St Agnes > Link
. Fragments of C15 Norwich School stained glass are set into one of the windows > Link
. The pulpit is C15 as is the font > Link
. There are several misericords > Link
in the chancel, the benches have poppyheads and some carved figures > Link
