The Market Place is a substantial open space in the centre of town - busy enough on market days but otherwise rather empty. The council have tried to add some colour with these flower tubs bearing the coat of arms. At one time this area was used as a car park and bus station, although on market days the buses were moved out to stops on Wharncliffe Road.
