NJ0735 : Heather patterns from Carn an Fhadhairc

taken 13 years ago, 3 km from Auchnagallin, Highland, Great Britain

Heather patterns from Carn an Fhadhairc.
Heather patterns from Carn an Fhadhairc.
Heather is burnt in strips for grouse management. The grouse prefer to live in long heather, but feed of young shoots. Burning strips ensures that food and cover are adjacent.
At times these burns can make striking patterns on the hill.
