Coastguard Cottages
Built at the beginning of the 19th century to combat smuggling which was rife in this area. The site had been used as a barracks during the Napoleonic War to guard against landing on what was then an unpopulated area of the coastline. The building to the right was the former watch house whilst the cottages to the left provided the living quarters. All are now private homes vulnerable to future cliff erosion.
