Elgin Cathedral
The 'Lantern of the North', consecrated in 1224, destroyed twice by fire and finally allowed to fall into disrepair after the Reformation, the Cathedral is built of local sandstone. Paler stones show where eroded blocks have been replaced during recent restoration work.
