Bow Bridge over the River Axe near Axminster
View looks eastwards across Bow Bridge towards Axminster. The River Axe is in flood following heavy July rain. The remains of a WW2 roadblock can be seen on the right of the bridge. A WW2 6 pounder gun emplacement is also visible on the far bank of the River Axe. Both features formed part of the Taunton Stop-line running between Taunton and Seaton built originally in 1940 due to the threat posed by a German invasion.
