Lych gate and Belmont Abbey
Founded in 1859, Belmont Abbey is a community of monks following the Rule of St Benedict. The Abbey Church is dedicated to St Michael and All Angels
and was built between 1854 and 1857 to the designs of Edward Welby Pugin, son of the great Augustus Welby Pugin. It is built of local pink sandstone in the decorated, early English style.
The North Transept was formerly an elaborate chantry chapel dedicated to the Welsh Saints.
