Medieval Preparations by The Major Oak
The major Oak still produces vigorous summer foliage. It's shape suggests that it was once pollarded at about 10 feet in height. Other trees of a similar age in the tiny remnant of this famous forest do not appear so healthy. This could be due to the pollarding or the fact that it has had its branches artificially supported for many years.
