Well, Colchester Castle
Well, Colchester Castle
This well, inside Colchester Castle just to the east of the main entrance corridor is about 50' (15m) deep. It would have originally been the main source of fresh water for the Castle. There is a strong iron grid atop it to prevent visitors from plummeting to its depths, but I took the photo through one of the spaces in the grille.
