Nice to see these pictures of former haunts.

My Dad was headmaster of Broad Lane C of E School and owed the Vicar of Wybunbury the odd favour, so he used to sometimes play the organ here in the early 1940's. It was a hand-pump organ and I remember one Sunday when the the usual pump-hand (perhaps he had a more dignified title?) was sick and I was pressed in to do the job. I suppose I was 7 or 8 and the lever that worked the bellows was almost beyond my reach. Anyway, I somehow got the thing wound up and Dad began to play the first hymn. It wasn't too long before I got tired and let go of the bellows lever. As the air pressure dropped, the organ began to make the most awful wailing sound and I just remember Dad's angry face darting out from behind the console and exhorting me to far greater effort!
